Hip, hip, hooray! Today is World Read Aloud Day. I hope you have an awesome day celebrating the power and beauty of words and stories. My students and I are excited to celebrate literacy with students, teachers, authors, and illustrators throughout the day.

Newbery Medalist Katherine Applegate will chat with fifth graders and read an excerpt from The One and Only Ivan

Joanne Levy will read an excerpt from Small Medium at Large and talk about some of her favorite books.

Author-illustrator Leeza Hernandez will read Dog Gone! to my first graders.

Author Ame Dyckman will read to my fifth graders.

Donna Gephart will entertain us and read an excerpt from one of her novels.

Dori Hillestead Butler will connect with my second graders.

Laurel Snyder will celebrate World Read Aloud Day with my students in a few weeks.

We will read poems from Messing Around on the Monkey Bars with students from Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Texas.
