I was driving to work when I heard on the radio that Maurice Sendak passed away. As soon as I entered the library, I displayed Where the Wild Things Are and a Wild Thing on the circulation desk.
I played Anita Silvey's profile of Maurice Sendak for all my scheduled classes. It provided a nice springboard for us to discuss his life and work. Each group shared fond memories of Where the Wild Things Are.
Thank you, Maurice Sendak, for your contributions to children's literature. You will be missed.
