I presented the winners of the ALA Youth Media Awards to one third-grade class, two fourth-grade classes, and two fifth-grade classes. Wonderstruck taking home the Schneider Family Book Award received the most positive reaction and the loudest round of applause.

From the mouths of my students...
*"Yeah! I knew it!"
* "Amazing!"
*"I love Brian Selznick."
*"I'm adding that to my Animoto project."
*"I'm going to read it again."
*"Wonderstruck is the best book I've ever read."
* "Fifth grader A: "What disability is in Wondstruck?" Fifth grader B: "Ben and Rose are deaf."
*"I saw that sticker on Rules."
Borrow Wonderstruck from your school or public library. Whenever possible, please support independent bookshops.
